This July 1st, the Liberian community in Charlotte, NC gathered for an evening of cultural pride and historical reflection at the highly anticipated Fireside Chat hosted by Zanzibar Café. The event featured the esteemed Counselor James Verdier, a powerful voice in Liberian discourse and advocacy.
Held at 3720 N Tryon St #101, the venue was filled with vibrant energy and the comforting aroma of authentic Liberian cuisine. The evening, themed “Celebrating Liberia through Culture and History,” brought together individuals from all walks of life – young and old, scholars and leaders, families and friends – all united in the spirit of independence and cultural preservation.
Counselor Verdier took center stage at 6:30 PM, engaging the audience with personal reflections, thought-provoking commentary, and heartfelt stories that highlighted the journey of Liberia – its struggles, triumphs, and the path forward. His message underscored the importance of remembering our roots and passing down cultural knowledge to the next generation.
The backdrop of the Liberian flag and the warm flicker of fire added a soulful ambiance, reminding everyone of the homeland they hold dear. The event also featured musical interludes, audience Q&A, and opportunities to connect with leaders and peers in the Liberian-American community.
